I developed the branding for my brother-in-law’s company CJ Construction, which led to the creation of business cards and the company’s first website. They are a newly formed company with over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. They offer design and build, extensions and refurbishment work to both, commercial and the domestic markets. The brief was very open apart from not to use red for the branding (He is a Manchester City fan!), this made me settle on City inspired colours for the logo.
Branding
Their fittings to offices and shops are very modern; the branding needed to reflect that. For their logo, I included the CJ initials and conveyed the multiple layers to the building of a house or office. The logo is now on business cards, signs, apparel and throughout the companies digital presence. It stands out in a market of uninspiring, standard design.
Website
As well as creating the branding, I designed and built their first website, allowing me to work on both at once to save time. The start of the design process began with very rough wireframes and an idea of the site map. The WordPress platform allowed me to take the initial design thoughts and build it through their extensive amount of plugins.
The site relied heavily on imagery to showcase the companies work and so the performance was affected. I then optimised and introduced lazy-load images because of this performance improved.
Although they have now replaced the website, the branding has remained and is prominent on their business vehicles.
Another company I have created the branding and a website for is Pros From The Shows. Created by performer Layton Williams, they are a company specialising in bringing dancing, singing and acting classes to people across the United Kingdom. I have had a relationship with them since their inception and continue to work with them. See more about it here.
